August 17 is National Nonprofit Day, recognizing the positive impact nonprofit organizations have both in our local communities and around the globe. As we continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, the critical role nonprofits play in our society is even more apparent.
So how can you help your favorite nonprofits this month, or find nonprofits that support the causes that matter to you?
- Spread the word. Most nonprofits don’t have big advertising budgets and rely heavily on word-of-mouth. Sharing about your favorite nonprofits on social media only takes a few seconds, but can help raise visibility.
- Share encouragement. Send a thank you (email or a good old fashioned card) to the organizations you see making an impact in your community, and/or that have helped you personally. It will make their day!
- Donate. Many nonprofits are struggling with reduced funds due to the pandemic. It’s easy to send a donation securely at UncommonGiving.com. You can also Explore Causes to find nonprofits doing good work in the areas that resonate with you.
Remember, even just $10 can make a difference!
